Abstract
The research on electromagnetic scattering mechanism and models of a ship-ocean scene has important guiding significance for ship monitoring and classification and identification in a complex marine environment. In this paper, aiming at the sea detection requirements of high resolution radar, a series of electromagnetic scattering models for the marine environment proposed by the research team in recent years are introduced, including:1)The capillary wave modified facet-based scattering model and the facet-based simplified small slope approximation are proposed for analysing the electromagnetic scattering from sea surfaces. In addition, a facet-based scattering model considering the influence of breaking waves is proposed for analysing the scattering from sea surfaces under high sea states; 2)The combination of the geometrical optics and the physical optics (GO/PO) is proposed as well as different acceleration methods for the scattering problem of electrically large targets; 3)In order to solve the scattering from a composite ship-ocean scene, the combination of the facet-based scattering models and the GO/PO hybrid method was proposed. Moreover, the application of the proposed models in sea clutter simulation, radar characteristics analysis of electrically large size targets, high resolution synthetic aperture radar image simulation and target detection in composite ship-ocean scenes are also given to show the potential application of the proposed scattering models.
